Privacy policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
We do not share, sell, rent or trade your personal information. Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone for marketing. Your information stays with Sequoia Synthesizers Co
Sequoia Synthesizers Co ("we", "our" or "us") makes music software and hardware. We collect as little about you as we can, and we only use it to do what you asked us to do. This policy explains what that is, for our website sequoiasynths.com, our emails and our plugins.
1. What we collect
- Your email address, only if you give it to us: when you sign up for the newsletter or a "tell me at launch" note, ask for hardware updates, or request a review (NFR) copy.
- Your account details (name, email address and your licenses), if you create a free Sequoia account, for example to start a free trial.
- Purchase details when you buy a plugin: your name, email address, what you bought and your license. Purchases are made through Paddle, our online reseller and Merchant of Record (and through plugin stores where listed). Paddle or the store handles the payment itself; we never see or store your card number.
- Free trial sign-ups. If you ask for more free trial days, we collect your email address, which plugin you tried, and the time and wording of your consent. We use it to send your trial key and, if you agreed, occasional Sequoia news. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Messages you send us, by email or through our community channels, so we can answer you.
2. What we don't collect
- The website has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no tracking cookies.
- Our plugins don't send information about you, your music or your computer to us. The one exception is described in section 5.
3. How we use your information
Only to:
- send you the news, launch notes and product updates you signed up for;
- deliver, activate and support the plugins you bought or are trying;
- answer your questions and support requests;
- keep the records the law requires (for example, for taxes).
4. We don't share it or sell it
We do not share, sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone for marketing, advertising or any other commercial purpose.
To run the business, a few service providers handle information for us, and only what each one needs to do its job. They work on our behalf and may not use your information for anything else:
- MailerLite stores the newsletter list and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare hosts the website. Like every web host, it handles the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages and keep the site safe.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces the website uses, so your browser asks Google's servers for them.
- Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), our online reseller and Merchant of Record, which processes payments, handles tax and issues license keys. If you buy through a plugin store instead, that store processes your payment.
We would only disclose information if the law required it.
5. WINNOW's rights check
WINNOW (our sample harvester) can check whether a song you load is someone else's commercial recording, to keep you from selling a pack built on it. When the check is on, WINNOW sends a few short, low-quality snippets of that audio (up to 12 seconds each) to a song-recognition service, either through the Sequoia rights server or through your own recognition account if you set one up. The snippets are used only to identify the recording; we don't keep them or link them to you. You can switch the check off in WINNOW at any time.
6. Cookies and your browser
The site doesn't set cookies. It remembers two small choices in your own browser, your currency and whether you've already seen the sign-up box, so it doesn't ask again. These never leave your computer, and clearing your browser data removes them. Links to YouTube and Instagram open those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
7. Your choices and rights
- Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Email hello@sequoiasynths.com to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. We'll do it within 30 days.
- Wherever you live, you get these same rights from us.
8. How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and purchase and license records for as long as you need your license and the law requires. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, change, disclosure or loss.
9. Children
Our website and products aren't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is important, we'll also email our subscribers.
